| Video editing and mixing |
Video editing is the process of editing small clips of a video. Film editing is a predecessor to video editing and, in several ways, video editing simulates movie editing. The main aim of editing is to modify these events for better communication.
In early video recorders, the quality degradation caused by copying was very high, since the recorded track used to be edited by cutting with a razor blade or guillotine cutter. Invention and incorporation of the erase head, allowed new video to be inserted cleanly into an existing tape. And this process was referred to as linear editing. If an early scene needed to be lengthened, all the later scenes would need to be added again.
Non-linear editing is computer-based, where the video file is played and captured on a hard drive or other suitable media, content is then recorded in the appropriate format, by suitable software. High definition video can be readily edited using the same software along with related Graphics / Software programs. Clips are then arranged on a timeline, music tracks and titles are added, effects created, and the finished program is "rendered" into a finished video.
